Santa Rosa Junior College: Field Archaeology

Primarily a field excavation experience taught by Tom Origer and Kathy Dowdall. Students are instructed in all aspects of modern archaeological excavation methods including preliminary data analysis, sketch mapping, and specimen cataloguing. Field activities are designed to acquaint the student with the goals of modern archaeology: the study of culture history, the reconstruction of ancient life styles, and the investigation of ways in which human cultures changed in prehistory.

The Spring 2009 class has been doing field work for Sonoma Land Trust at Little Black Mountain.
